Bruce Springsteen for AU Magazine

I created this illustration of Bruce Springsteen for AU Magazine.

I have been lucky enough to illustrate for AU Magazine for around 2 years now. Due to the current economic climate the magazine’s print edition will no longer be produced. I just wanted to say a personal thanks to Jonny, Chris and Andrew who have given me the opportunity to be a part of a fantastic team. Without their belief my portfolio would not have grown and I would not have made the friends that I have. I would not have met Mark Reihill and we would not have had our 24 Frames Per Second Exhibition together. I am eternally grateful to the boys for taking a chance on me.

I will end with my Springsteen quote of the day for you 'It's a sad man my friend who's livin' in his own skin and can't stand the company.' xox

I facilitated a workshop for Seedhead Arts at Titanic Lockdown where we worked with members of the public to try and find the Colour of Heartbreak. The experience was to be stimulating and cathartic for participants. This project was so much fun to work on. A great space featuring live music and skate competitions. The result looked like this. Many thanks to Sarah Hardy for the beautiful photograph.

History at the Ulster Hall

history

I am taking part in the exhibition ‘History’ which features original prints celebrating the Ulster Hall's 150th anniversary. History runs between the 4th and 30th May in the Ulster Hall, Belfast.

I drew inspiration from the Ulster Hall’s prolific concert history including acts such as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. I created a unique screen print on silk using devore and discharge dyes inspired by performance and light.

Come and See-Touring Brussels and the USA

This group exhibition with Seacourt Print Workshop was created to showcase landmarks within Northern Ireland that we would take first time visitors too. The exhibition then tours to Brussels and the USA.

I created a unique screen print on leather of Kinebane Castle, one of my favourite spots in Northern Ireland. I had some issues exposing my screens for this piece and found the layer’s too dense, which I think, detracts from the overall effect. That is the nature of the screen-printing beast hehe!

I created a new piece for the ReFound Project. I instantly loved the half moon shape of this classic table and the tonal quality of the wood. I created a 5-colour screen print on suede drawing inspiration from the film Jason and the Argonauts, which drapes seductively over the tabletop capturing the shape of the hide. This piece is playful and unique featuring enchanting female iconography along with skulls and skeletons.

I was asked to give a talk at North Down Museum, discussing the role of screen printing within my practice to art pupils from South Eastern Regional College : ) I was so nervous but it was a great experience. The talk is part of a series in conjunction with Seacourt Print Workshop about the history of print and explores how artists apply print techniques within their practice.I was even more nervous as two of my foundation art tutors where in the audience and I did not want to let them down but they where so supportive and encouraging. It was great to see people respond to my work and answer questions they had on screen printing.I just hope the audience enjoyed it as much as I did : ) xox

Frozen Bones EP Cover-Window Seats

I am super excited to unveil the new EP cover ‘Frozen Bones’ for the awesome Window Seats. Frozen Bones is raw and confrontational 5 track EP launching in December. I am lucky enough to have worked with the boys on 2 previous covers and we wanted to follow in a similar vein with the creation of a new male character. I wanted to create a character that would capture the onlooker’s gaze. When something is frozen it has the dual perception of being both strong and yet immensely fragile so I wanted to capture this feeling within the illustration. The finished piece combines a strong masculine energy with a delicate air of mystery. It was a pleasure to work with the boys again to create an image to compliment the Window Seats sound xox

Frozen Bones will launch on Friday 2nd December at Animal Disco. Further information on Window Seats can be found on facebook at
