I was asked to give a talk at North Down Museum, discussing the role of screen printing within my practice to art pupils from South Eastern Regional College : ) I was so nervous but it was a great experience. The talk is part of a series in conjunction with Seacourt Print Workshop about the history of print and explores how artists apply print techniques within their practice.I was even more nervous as two of my foundation art tutors where in the audience and I did not want to let them down but they where so supportive and encouraging. It was great to see people respond to my work and answer questions they had on screen printing.I just hope the audience enjoyed it as much as I did : ) xox

I love Deerhunter emmensely. They are one of my favourite live bands. Their performances are like a crescendo of voluminous trippy sounds that hit you like waves with beautiful vocals and haunting lyrics. Everyone should listen to microcastle at least once for some inspiration.

Imagined Reality by Clinton Kirkpatrick

E-mail

clinton

Clinton Kirkpatrick opened a solo exhibition ‘Imagined Reality’ at the Ulster Hall in Belfast. The show was a wonderful explosion of colour. The work consisted of arresting and vibrant abstract paintings. At the foundation of his work Clinton explores the theme of contradiction, often looking at the impact the media has on our interpretation of society. Another exciting aspect of Clinton’s work are his striking sculptural pieces of layered oils applied on canvas. I find this work particularly innovative and am excited to see this develop in the future. What I really like about Clinton’s work is his confident use of vibrant, alluring colours against the dark sub text behind the work.

Clinton is such a passionate and prolific artistic. I love his work. You can see further examples at

Leonardo Sustainable Craft Network-Toledo, Spain

E-mail
city team museum

I was selected to travel to Toledo in Spain to represent the UK as part of the Leonardo Sustainable Craft Network. Toledo is a World Heritage site and it is visually stunning. There is a real mysterious energy within Toledo. The steep cobbled streets of the old town are alive with magic and inspiration. It has such a vivid cultural tapestry and so many stunning monuments. Our hosts were amazing and we where made extremely welcome at the Mezquita de las Tornerias Foundation. It was fantastic to meet the other artists selected from our partner countries in Spain, Italy, Finland and Ireland.
