History at the Ulster Hall

history

I am taking part in the exhibition ‘History’ which features original prints celebrating the Ulster Hall's 150th anniversary. History runs between the 4th and 30th May in the Ulster Hall, Belfast.

I drew inspiration from the Ulster Hall’s prolific concert history including acts such as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. I created a unique screen print on silk using devore and discharge dyes inspired by performance and light.

Come and See-Touring Brussels and the USA

This group exhibition with Seacourt Print Workshop was created to showcase landmarks within Northern Ireland that we would take first time visitors too. The exhibition then tours to Brussels and the USA.

I created a unique screen print on leather of Kinebane Castle, one of my favourite spots in Northern Ireland. I had some issues exposing my screens for this piece and found the layer’s too dense, which I think, detracts from the overall effect. That is the nature of the screen-printing beast hehe!

This exhibition celebrates Seacourt Print Workshop’s 30th anniversary of promoting Fine Art Printmaking to the wider public through showcasing works by its artists. The exhibition takes place at the Waterfront Hall,Belfast. The Bangor-based organisation provides artists with opportunities to create original works of art in traditional and experimental print media, including etching, lithography, screen-printing, relief printing and digital printmaking. Anyone with an interest in printmaking should visit Seacourt. It is a great facility for artists in the region. I truly love the space and the team. I have included Primal Scream in this exhibition, which is a unique screen print on leather with suede mount.

Re-Found at the Irish Furniture Fair

E-mail

I took part in my first project with the Re-Found collective. The Re-Found concept is ‘ReCreating found furniture into stylish one-offs – reuse, restyle… ReFound’’ I was given a leather footstool to re-vamp for the ‎Irish Furniturefair in Dublin. I screen printed panels in bold colours with layered imagery of a female face. It was quite awkward to print on as the surface was not flat but the faded exterior impression's created an interesting edge. It is a great concept for creating unique pieces by renewing materials. For more information on Re-Found check out http://www.refoundonline.com/
