Bruce Springsteen for AU Magazine

I created this illustration of Bruce Springsteen for AU Magazine.

I have been lucky enough to illustrate for AU Magazine for around 2 years now. Due to the current economic climate the magazine’s print edition will no longer be produced. I just wanted to say a personal thanks to Jonny, Chris and Andrew who have given me the opportunity to be a part of a fantastic team. Without their belief my portfolio would not have grown and I would not have made the friends that I have. I would not have met Mark Reihill and we would not have had our 24 Frames Per Second Exhibition together. I am eternally grateful to the boys for taking a chance on me.

I will end with my Springsteen quote of the day for you 'It's a sad man my friend who's livin' in his own skin and can't stand the company.' xox

Frozen Bones EP Cover-Window Seats

I am super excited to unveil the new EP cover ‘Frozen Bones’ for the awesome Window Seats. Frozen Bones is raw and confrontational 5 track EP launching in December. I am lucky enough to have worked with the boys on 2 previous covers and we wanted to follow in a similar vein with the creation of a new male character. I wanted to create a character that would capture the onlooker’s gaze. When something is frozen it has the dual perception of being both strong and yet immensely fragile so I wanted to capture this feeling within the illustration. The finished piece combines a strong masculine energy with a delicate air of mystery. It was a pleasure to work with the boys again to create an image to compliment the Window Seats sound xox

Frozen Bones will launch on Friday 2nd December at Animal Disco. Further information on Window Seats can be found on facebook at

Funkadelic's Maggot brain for AU Magazine

E-mail

maggotbrainweb

I got a really fun commission from AU magazine to create an illustration based on Funkadelic’s Album Maggot Brain. The original album cover is quite dark and arresting so I wanted to create an illustration that was fresh, dynamic and captured the raw energy of this album. Fun times! : )

Alan Berg-AU Magazine

E-mail

I worked on 2 briefs this month for AU Magazine. The first illustration was for Rockstar Games and looked at it’s new release L.A Noire. The final illustration did not make it to print but I enjoyed working on it creating an illustration from water colour/fur/diamonds. I then created an illustration reflecting an article that looked at Alan Berg who was an assassinated talk show host. I really enjoyed the challenge of portraying this story within an illustration. This illustration can be found within issue 74 of the awesome AU.

Katie and the Carnival

I was so super excited (not to mention honoured) to be asked to create the artwork for the amazing band Katie and the Carnival. This artwork is the first in a series and is called *The places we go: The Darkest Depths. I wanted to create something magical and alluring just like the band. A number of the song lyrics are inspired by relationships so I wanted a focal point to be the crystal ball featuring a couple lost in a gaze. The illustration shows Katie lost in a chamber of magic presenting us with an alluring insight into her beautiful world.Katie is a wonderful person, beautiful inside and out, a huge inspiration who works tirelessly for music/arts/culture.They are such a great band and it was a pleasure to work on this project. To hear more of the magical carnival sound please visit
