Aspects of Native American mythology inspire this body of work. Shauna identifies with their culture’s deep respect for and intrinsic links to nature. Birds in particular feature heavily in these narratives revealing how fire originally came to earth, how rainbows were created and how the hierarchy of the animal kingdom influenced traditions in nature that are prevalent today. She was inspired by the idea that the human spirit can transform and live on following death, and that the spirit will continue to influence and guide those on earth.
